Leni has
come home to introduce her fiancé Rafi to her idiosyncratic
Jewish family for the first time. Everything goes smoothly until
the lovers belatedly reveal that Rafi is Palestinian. Amid the
ensuing hysteria, Rafi escapes to the kitchen, ostensibly to
help prepare the dinner. Unfortunately he drops the soup he was
meant to defrost out of the 7th floor window, hitting a
pedestrian below, and as if the evening’s not going badly
enough, it turns out the pedestrian may be Leni’s father...
A gloriously irreverent family comedy, Only Human fuses
brilliant characterization and unrelenting humor to rework the
age-old story of meeting the parents with a hilarious modern
twist.

Best Character:
TANIA (played by Maria Botto), the nymphomaniac
belly dancer sister. She's sassy and does not apologize
for who she is.
It's a Spanish film with human themes - those of
love, family, humor, and turmoil. I think the
international ensemble cast and storyline resonate with
Chicano/Latino sensibilities. I feel as if I've lived in
this family before...and fled.
